The A&R representative is responsible for obtaining new clients and maintaining a portfolio of active clients, such as bands, artists, producers, songwriters, musicians, and music, as well as attending shows. This position requires you to develop a relationship directly with artists and research new artists, producers, songwriters and musicians, review demo submissions, cover shows, coordinate detailed bi-weekly research reports and carry out other scouting projects as well as some office administration duties. Salary commission only.
This position will be very competitive and the A&R Representative may work with some of the leading names in entertainment and music. Experience is as important as professional qualifications and our prospects must demonstrate a good record of success in marketing and sales. This position requires you to manage a range of music from country to online urban projects. You will be required to be knowledgeable about the music market and keep up to date with trends and changes, along with good knowledge of competitors and good networking skills, is essential. Defining the unique identity and market positioning of an artist or product is a key task.
Good skills in teamwork are important as an A&R representative. You will need to work closely with other departments, such artist managers, booking agents and public relations. The tasks carried out by an artist repertoire are varied and can change from campaign to campaign. A&R Representatives will have some input into initial decisions Polaris Music Group makes on what to prioritize and where to focus their efforts. They may be involved in working with focus groups, managing and responding to feedback and handling, packaging, advertising, and sales promotions. The artist repertoire may be involved in planning and organizing publicity and promotion work around events, live performances and tours, and their tasks can range from design, creation and distribution of packaging and marketing materials such as cover images, posters, websites and point of sale assets, to liaising with media buyers about placing advertisements.
The work can involve long hours while managing deadlines and launch and release dates can be stressful. Excellent project management skills are very important. Experience in dealing with intellectual property licensors and promotional partners, as well as sales distributors, and localization and translation providers is helpful. A&R representatives will also need experience in managing marketing budgets, analyzing customer and audience behavior and sales trends.
Must have a high energy and proactive personality and the ability to work under pressure are attributes we’re looking for. This position is commission based. Success is very much measured in terms of specific outcomes such as successful proper Artist/Brand placement plans.

The responsibility of the artist manager is to oversee the day-to-day business affairs of our clients; offer advice and counsel talent concerning professional matters, long-term plans and personal decisions which may affect their career. This position is commission based. Success is very much measured in terms of specific outcomes such as successful career coaching for our clients.
Polaris Music Group is currently in search a booking agent. The booking agent will be responsible for booking live performances including concerts, gigs, tours and radio and TV performances for artists, producers, songwriters and musicians. The booking agent is responsible for developing the artist career in regards to their live performances. The Booking Agent will work closely with the artists' managers, promoters and record companies.
The booking agent will be responsible for negotiating and issuing contracts, collecting deposits and sending out promotional material. All prospects must have excellent knowledge of the music industry and keep in touch with current music trends is essential, as is building up an excellent network of contacts in the music business. This position is commission based per booking. Success is very much measured in terms of specific outcomes such as arranging a successful event for the artist or promoter.
Public Relations/Marketing Intern - (Must be full-time student)
This Internship can be an excellent way to break into the entertainment industry. This position is an entry level position that will assist and work with our staff to help make sure that daily tasks are fulfilled, and the office runs smoothly. This position may require 12 hours per week. Please understand that this is not a paid intern position.
Administrative Assistant Intern - (Must be full-time student)
The administrative assistant Intern position can be an excellent way in to the music business and can offer a good opportunity for networking and building up contacts, as well as offering music industry experience. If you are looking for a varied role with the opportunity to become involved in a wider range of tasks this may be for you. The more ambitious you are, the wider the responsibilities you may be asked to take on.
A successful candidate is likely to be flexible and to have good organizational and IT skills, the ability to work on their own and within a team, and must be knowledgeable of a numerous office software packages in order to keep up with our day to day goals. They will also need to have meticulous attention to detail and be able to work under pressure, as a lot of the work is responding to the demands of other people. Good customer care skills are also important.
The administrative assistant intern may also involve providing administrative support for events such as concerts, gigs or tours, and sometimes helping to organize and promote them. The position may involve fielding calls from musicians, songwriters and other clients and doing research.
Responsibilities include reception which may involve answering calls, meeting and greeting visitors, and dealing with mail, faxes and deliveries. Also, acting as a PA, for example managing an appointment book, scheduling and organizing travel. The work can be very diverse and there is often a chance to become involved in ad hoc projects, such as helping to organize a music event or helping to set up an online campaign to promote an artist or product.
